I started listening to your show yesterday and now am catching up on the podcasts. I like what I'm hearing so far :-)
Here are some suggestions for guests. I see from your site that you've already had Jonathan Goldman and Steven Halpern, so no sense suggesting them again ;-)
These two may be unknown to most people, but I've enjoyed their music, and they teach:
Layne Redmond
Sarah Hopkins
After reading David Hykes' page, it appears that he teaches as well. And, Steve Gorn is getting into Sound Healing as well, though only minimally according to his site.
David Hykes
Steve Gorn
Neither of these two teach (or not that I could find), though I do know that Deuter is a Reiki Master:
Deuter
Roger Winfield's WindHarps
I'm very interested in the music of the Middle East and some of India, at least for the drumming and some of the flute music. Also, I find much of the music from the minimalists as mesmerizing, such as from Steve Reich and Philip Glass. They're not likely to be into sound-healing, though they do make beautiful modern music. I never would have heard of many of these artists had I not discovered public radio so many years ago.
I have not been a student of any of the above, save for using Jonathan Goldman's book "Healing Sounds" to learn how to do overtoning. I still don't know what notes I'm hitting, but it's fun anyway.

Permalink Reply by Joule L'adara - HOST on February 9, 2012 at 2:06pm Hey Eric! Thanks so much for your thoughtful response - so appreciated!! I'm a big fan of contemporary music and avant-garde sound art practices myself - a lot of my work is about the synthesis between intellectual art forms, folkloric traditions, and heart-based healing modalities. You seem to have similar tastes and I'm grateful for the feedback, leads and enthusiasm!
If you'd like, send me your email address in a private message and I'll send you the "Gifts from Sounding Circles" mps compilation - almost 4 hours of the best of my show edited together with music, meditations, healing sounds and inspiring sound bytes.
I'll definitely check out your recommendations!
Blessings & Keep in Touch!

I don't know if it went through, but I sent you a private message a few days ago. And if you have used the email address given and it didn't work, I have another one I can send :-)
I'm looking forward to your show tomorrow. I hope it's something new :-)
Namaste
Eric
