On the Front Porch with Ami Chen
Spiritual Dialogues for the 21st Century
“This is the time of the ordinary awakening. This means you.” –Gangaji
"I love your spirit of bringing spirituality down to earth, where we can be ordinary and where we can support and help each other ... Your courage has been a support; I applaud your willingness to throw away any form ... for the sake of Truth. There is such freedom in this." --Dicken Bettinger, Ph.D.
"The life force beyond all things has no form, yet it gives form to all things." --Sydney Banks
For many eons now, the human animal, imbued with great spirit and the universal gifts of Mind, Consciousness and Thought, has created entire worlds, separate realities of increasing complexity. The power to think, to create, has led to tremendous discovery and technologies, religions and world views, as well as suffering: stress, insecurity, depression, unmitigated anger, despair, greed, mania, war, and the frenzied pursuit of happiness in external “forms.”
Now, in the 21stCentury, many millions have turned their attention inward, toward the root cause of suffering, and toward the true source of happiness, fulfillment, and wise action. The message has become simpler, and even simpler still:
You are that which you seek.
In this bi-monthly show, (2nd and 4th Fridays at 10 a.m. PST) your host Ami Chen author of The Spark Inside and the blog Mystical Mama, dialogues with listeners, callers and special guests on the true nature of reality. How do we each create our personal realities from the fabric of Thought? Ami Chen reminds us of the freedom and pure potential of who and what we really are—before any form of thought, of religion or spirituality ever appeared.
“When your real, effortless, joyful nature is realized, it will not be inconsistent with the ordinary activities of daily life.” –Ramana Maharishi
Show topics include: psychology and the Three Principles of Sydney Banks, parenting, relationships, education, community, work life and, always, the constant nowness and presence of pure Consciousness, of mental health and well-being.
“Sydney Banks’ tremendous gift to the world was to bring simple principles along that would help people understand what Buddha was talking about, what Jesus was talking about—everyone!—Maslow, Carl Rogers and William James. The Principles, if you look at them deeply, are behind what everyone is talking about. Everyone is saying that Thought is what creates your reality, and that we are all a part of something much, much greater .”

BIO
Ami Chen Mills-Naim is a mother and housewife, with an ordinary life and life issues. She is also a spiritual author, poet and former award-winning investigative journalist. For the last two decades, Ami has been a student of and then leader in the “Three Principles” movement, teaching and sharing an understanding of Sydney Banks’ “Three Principles” of Mind, Consciousness and Thought through the non-profit Center for Sustainable Change, co-founded with her father, the late Dr. Roger Mills. For the last four years, she has directed the National Community Resiliency Project, funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, which brings a spiritual understanding of Thought and human nature to youth at risk and inner city communities, as well as “regular” communities worldwide.
She served as co-host of the radio show and podcast, “A New Way to Handle Absolutely Everything,” with Elese Coit.
In her 20’s, Ami overcame depression and anxiety through a series of spiritual insights. Researching and writing an in-depth article on depression marked the end of her career as a journalist, as she became inspired to help others regain their birthright of mental health, peace of mind and clarity.
Ami is a frequent and international lecturer on the topic of the Principles and spirituality in general. Her studies of more than 30 years include the work of Sydney Banks, Joel Goldsmith, Gangaji, Adyashanti, Byron Katie, Toni Packer, Ramana Maharishi, Nisargadatta Maharaj, and Hugh and Gayle Prather, among others.
She has also been a student of many great spiritual texts including: A Course in Miracles, the Bible, the Tao Te Ching and the Hua Hu Ching, as well as books of Jewish wisdom and mysticism.
She finds, simply, that the truth is everywhere. Inside of books, outside of books. In nature, in cities, and at home. In increasing numbers of teachers and “ordinary people” worldwide. And, most importantly, in you.
Ami offers coaching and counseling to individuals, families and groups on a limited basis, and is available for speaking engagements. Please contact Ami at info@amichen.com with inquiries, questions or comments about the show.
