A Perfect Day

Leslee Urquhart, creator of A Perfect Day, left her teaching job early to pursue a dream of being an event/wedding planner. Her unique story unfolds Friday July 31 at 12:00 PST.

Often that happens when we start a journey, and leaving behind the security, she started a business planning weddings and event not only in Southern Ontario, but an opportunity arouse out of…

It's NOT about "fixing"

My Dad was a veterinarian, and when I was a little kid, I remember my Dad “fixing” peoples’ pets. I was told it meant that the pet couldn’t be a mommy or a daddy and have puppies or kittens. As a result, when I hear someone looking to “get fixed” I have a private chuckle.…

Tingles and Tears...join me for The Garbage Bag Challenge

I get to meet amazing, awe-inspiring people all the time in my work. I love it! Through a past guest, I have been connected to Violet-Rose Pharoah, the founder of The Garbage Bag Challenge (go check her out) and in our first meeting, some powerful things happened. We talked about the bigger conversation of community and relationship in the world of foster kids, we talked about "the system" in which they must swim, and we…

Completely change your perception

“Assume: to take as being true, for the purpose of argument or action” This is the Concise Oxford Dictionary definition…I’ve been observing the assumptions people make, and find it fascinating how often they are from the “worst case scenario” side of the line. …

Fortunately you can re-pattern IT

You wouldn’t consider having a close friend who called you names and was verbally abusive.

You wouldn’t partner with a person who continuously berated…

Unlearning Supermom Gillian Rowinski

What a great time we had today with the lovely Gillian Rowinski, talking about hummus, parenting, sex, self care, asking for help and all things about mindful living.

I don't know about you, but I bring a notebook with me wherever I go, so that is what I loved about this interview! I got so many great nuggets from Gillian:

  • What is ACTUALLY important?
  • The best book (perhaps in the world!) is…

Making the Change: High-steppin' it into the next journey in your life

While discussing upcoming show content with Jane (or winging it as we usually do), well really while lying on physio-therapy bed with nothing but a poster of knee bones to gaze at, it occurred to me that over the course of my life, I have had to make many changes.

The decision to start a magazine meant changing many things in my life, but there were many more that had happened.

Some were out of neccessity, some were by fancy, but all required that the safe secure life, or…
