This being human is a guest house
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes

Last night was pretty phenomenally uncomfortable. I woke up feeling constricted with competition. It was such a surprise to me, because I don't operate on that level any more. I'm not certain whose reality I was experiencing, but I would…

We're so quick to compare - this to this, that to that.
Comparison is the death of truth.

In comparison, you close off, you single out, you focus entirely on a specific set of conditions, circumstances and perspectives to the exclusion of others - under the guise of 'truth and reality.'
When we compare one thing to another there may be a small aspect that is noticed "This is taller than…

It's been a painful week. I think the majority of people (at least in the US, but I suspect it is showing up in different forms around the world) are suffering major post traumatic stress.
This has been coming in waves throughout the year, although it's been going on for longer. I'm certain there's an astrological explanation, maybe the Pluto-Uranus square, whatever.…

A long, clean and shiny red firetruck was in the lane next to me as we waited at the signal light. I got to contemplating about the ability of the firemen who drop everything at a moment's notice and then take their truck out into the neighborhood to do good of all kinds.
I thought about the stress that is incorporated in every action along the way, from keeping the truck in working, pristine, ready condition, the maneuvering of the big vehicle through traffic and tight road…Continue

What will it take for us to stop hurting each other and ourselves in the workplace?
If you are a helping professional, you have likely experienced the toxic work environment – maybe, you’re in one right now. You know – high workload demands, lack of time and funding, too much paperwork, disgruntled colleagues, waiting lists, and hard to please supervisors. And we haven’t even touched on the often traumatizing and painful stories that you witness in…Continue
