What will it take for us to stop hurting each other and ourselves in the workplace?
If you are a helping professional, you have likely experienced the toxic work environment – maybe, you’re in one right now. You know – high workload demands, lack of time and funding, too much paperwork, disgruntled colleagues, waiting lists, and hard to please supervisors. And we haven’t even touched on the often traumatizing and painful stories that you witness in…Continue

Learning through Resonance and Resistance
I like to think about resonance and resistance as key indicators for my own personal growth that challenge me in my ability to stay present and engaged with others. As a helping professional, there may be many times that you feel resonance with someone you are working with or alternatively, resistance to what someone else is saying or doing. Maintaining awareness about your level…Continue

My 62nd birthday was yesterday. On Friday I walked into our favorite bookstore and the first one I registered visually was The Book of Joy by the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu. I opened it up and read a few lines and tears started running down my cheeks standing there. Which was unusual for…Continue

Mabon, (pronounced MAY-bun, MAY-bone, MAH-boon, or MAH-bawn) is the Autumn Equinox. The Autumn Equinox divides the day and night equally, and we all take a moment to pay our respects to the impending dark. We also give thanks to the waning sunlight, as…Continue

When you are in the win/lose paradigm, competition is present. And is that a good thing? Between watching the Olympics, all levels of football this week, sports channels, video games, politics, business news and my own self as I drive around town, I wondered. Friendly competition, hostile competition when is any of it good or out of balance? Family life of siblings and parents can be filled with competition as favoritism or to toughen…Continue

Resonance and Resistance – two internal responses that I have found to be so useful in the process of not only hearing my intuition, but also trusting and following it. One often feels more fun than the other!
In this first part, we’ll explore these responses and how we might experience each in terms of our feelings and physical sensations.
What does it mean to have something resonate for you? How do you define that…Continue

How can we work to transform health care and human services systems?
What seems to be missing from our systems to take them to the next level of efficiency and high quality service in our communities?
Questions like these tend to get us focused on what is missing – things like adequate funding, more resources, streamlined practices, and more effective approaches.
With all the talk about strengths based practice, capacity building, resiliency and…Continue

I imagine that one of the reasons people cling to their hates so stubbornly is because they sense, once hate is gone, that they will be forced to deal with pain.
James Baldwin in Notes of a Native Son
Our pain can take several forms and…

Consciousness is collective and individual in experience and being. When everything is
reduced to particles and vibrations there is no me, you, separateness, no other embodied. For there is no thing when one is in the Infinite Sea of Potential.
How do we…Continue

Joan and I enjoyed out time at the Conscious Wellness Expo in Kent, Wa. What I noticed from the people who stopped at our booth were people not familiar with Consciousness Technologies and Heart Centered Awareness. They were feeling unsettled about the world and looking for something. When I connected them to themselves as Consciousness, the Peace that they were looking for was present. Free of the emotional hype media train we can find ourselves riding.
Peace is in each of us.…Continue

Hello Out There,
(I wrote the following last Thursday afternoon Pacific. With the time difference events in Nice, France had happened. I did not hear about it until later that night. And then on Sunday, a man was shooting with intention to kill and harm. I am always struck by synchronistic actions in the world. Peace is what is needed. Love, j)…Continue

One of the main problems we run into when we create something new is that we focus on what we don’t want so much so that we forget to get clear about what we do want. This is true whether we’re starting a new business, a new relationship, or a new habit.
Inevitably, when we pay more attention to what we don’t want we’re not able to see what we do want and how we can make it happen.
Intention is a big buzz word these days – from yoga classes to…Continue

Again, it seems, we're collectively going through a seismic shift. Momentous changes are happening. People are being rocked to their core. There are strong reactions on one side or another.
What the heck is going on? And what can we do about it?
There's an increase Consciousness happening. We know that. It's been happening, it continues to happen, why does it feel like such a big,…

Day-in and day-out, I talk to people who want to find their life purpose. I make a point to pay close attention to what my clients, associates and colleagues say as they describe the purpose-driven life they seek to live. As I see it, my job is not simply to respond to what I hear, but rather to figure out how I can help those around me get what they really need to feel happier, healthier and more successful.
When people talk about finding their purpose they often…Continue
